Would any of these five full-backs make good additions to our squad next summer…
Despite the Reds still having plenty to play for this season, many Liverpool fans have already begun to look towards next summer, attempting to analyse where we will be trying to strengthen in the next transfer window.

Liverpool transfer news
Last summer’s crop of new additions – particularly the exceptional Emre Can, but also Lazar Markovic, Adam Lallana and Alberto Moreno – have begun to settle in, and it’s hard to see exactly where improvement is needed.
One potential issue is at right-back, where the lack of a recognised first choice was one of the major contributors towards our switch to a 3-4-3 formation. Since then, Jordon Ibe, Lazar Markovic, Jordan Henderson and Emre Can have all been trialled in a right wing-back role, with varying amounts of success.
Javier Manquillo (pictured), Jon Flanagan and Glen Johnson all remain on our books, but it’s hard to argue with the fact that an out-and-out attacking full-back, of a similar ilk to Moreno, would be beneficial to Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
The latest candidate to be linked by the press is Barcelona’s out-of-favour veteran Adriano, who is capable of playing on either side of the pitch or in midfield. Check out our full list of favourites below:
5) Adriano (Barcelona)
The 30-year-old has bags of experience at the top level, having played 159 games for Barcelona, winning nine major honours, including the 2011 Champions League title. Also a former Brazilian international, but considering his age is not a very ‘Brendan Rodgers’ signing, and we expect him to be overlooked despite the paper talk.
4) Maxi Pereira (Benfica)
Pereira was strongly linked with Liverpool prior to the January transfer window. Quite where those rumours came from we’re not sure, but nothing ever came of them. The 30-year-old has played over 200 times in the league for Benfica, and has an impressive 99 caps for his country Uruguay, but as with Adriano it’s hard to see why he’d be an improvement on what we already have.
3) Sebastian Jung (Wolfsburg)
Now we start getting a bit more ambitious – Jung only joined Wolfsburg last summer, but has played a key role in helping lead his new side’s march up the Bundesliga table, and they currently sit in second place behind Bayern Munich. The 24-year-old former Eintracht Frankfurt player is a one-time German international and with his strong, bustling style would likely be well suited to the Premier League.
2) Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton)
The 23-year-old has been an integral part of Southampton’s impressive season thus far. His performances earned him a call-up to the England squad at the end of last year, and he did well in his first two appearances in a Three Lions shirt. Clyne scored against Liverpool on the first game of the season earlier in the current campaign.
1) Danilo (Porto)
The Brazilian international is still only 23, and has consistently impressed for his club side in recent years. He played in his country’s Olympic campaign in London 2012, picking up a silver medal either side of back-to-back Portuguese league titles. He picked up a number of young player awards while with Santos and clearly has bags of potential.
