The 27-year-old won a World Cup with his country in 2014, as well as the Champions League with Real Madrid, but he still hasn’t agreed a contract extension with the Spanish giants – who are nervous to offer him a lengthy deal because of his injury history.
Khedira though is a very classy box-to-box midfielder, and if we can acquire him without a transfer fee (although his wages would be extortionate) it would probably be a no brainer.
Still, as the report claims, we’d have to battle some European behemoths for his signature – including Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
Roma’s Miralem Pjanic has also been linked as a potential Steven Gerrard replacement option – but his mooted £37m fee makes Khedira an arguably more viable alternative.
