Finally…
David Duckenfield has agreed that his failure to close a tunnel at Hillsborough “was the direct cause of the deaths of 96 people”, according to BBC News.
Duckenfield was the police match commander in charge of the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, where a tragic crush resulted in one of football’s worst disasters ever.
He said he “froze” during that awful afternoon in April 1989.
The latest revelations came as Duckenfield, who is now 70 years old, gave evidence for a sixth day at the new Hillsborough inquests in Warrington.
