The 74-year-old Brazilian, who scored over 700 (or up to 1,000, depending on what report you read..)  goals for club and country in an outstanding playing career, will bizarrely be appearing on behalf of Subway Restaurants, Liverpool’s official training food partner.

Pele will be reunited with Reds striker Daniel Sturridge, who has also represented Subway in the past. The pair starred in advert together last summer, which aired during the 2014 World Cup.

The three-time World Cup winner played two games across Merseyside at Goodison Park during the 1966 tournament, but his side endured an uncharacteristically low-key exit in the group stage.

He’ll also be sure to keep a close eye on countryman Philippe Coutinho, who has been among our star players so far this season, and has recently made a habit of scoring some eye-catching goals.
