We all know that the Reds need some improvements up front but this is surely not the answer…

Liverpool’s need for a striker has seemingly reached breaking point. That’s at least the view of the Metro, who have decided that it’s time to link us with a move for a player that’s spend most of his career sitting on the bench…

We all know that the papers like to come out with some rubbish rumours but this one is definitely a new low, especially when you consider the touted price of £14m for Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez!

As the Metro reports, the Reds are reportedly ready to make their move at the end of the season, after the Mexican’s season long loan deal with Real Madrid comes to an end.

He is expected to be sold by Louis van Gaal upon his return to the Old Trafford setup, with Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United – far more appropriate destinations – thought to be in the running as well.

The 26-year-old has scored just three La Liga goals this season for the European Champions, for whom he is admittedly well down the pecking order. However, he managed just four Premier League strikes for David Moyes the season before, suggesting that he’s probably past his peak.

One for Liverpool to avoid if nothing else…
