Oddly, it was fortunate that the stand-in skipper took a poor first touch, as he failed to get the ball out of his way, and thus was closed down. Henderson had to cut inside, but hit an effort that curled from well wide into the top corner.
Philippe Coutinho vs Manchester City (March)
Like Henderson’s opener earlier in the match, Coutinho’s strike saw the goalkeeper cut inside before curling an effort round Joe Hart. However, the 22-year-old’s strike came from a much acuter angle.
Jordan Henderson vs Burnley (March)
Three days after the Manchester City win, Henderson was at it again with the first goal in the win against Burnley. Incredibly, the strike from the edge of the box eerily resembled Steven Gerrard’s famous goal against Olympiakos over a decade ago.
