According to the Daily Mirror earlier this week, we placed a £14.3m bid for the 21-year-old. He may not be able to oust the likes of Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho straight away, but by working with the players already here, he could become one of the best players at the club in the future.

The Metro suggests we are interested in the South American goal machine. His side are in yet another Europa League final, and he has bagged 20 goals in the league. There may be many other sides interested in the 28-year-old, making it very difficult to see a deal being done. We’re dying out for a summer striker signing, and he’s one of the options.
