Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Manchester City misfit Stevan Jovetic, and Liverpool will bid £12m for the Montenegrin international come the summer as a result, reports the Mirror.
Jovetic arrived at the Eithad for big money in 2013, but has never been able to get ahead of Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and now Wilfried Bony in the pecking order.
This term in fact, he’s been restricted to nine Premier League starts, and has only been brought off the bench a further eight times, scoring five goals in total. Two of them came against us in our away defeat at the start of the season, but he’s not been able to regularly reproduce the goods.
A top class forward this summer is a priority, and 25-year-old Jovetic proved during his spell in Italy with Fiorentina that he’s a far better player than he’s shown at City, where he’s not been given the chances his talent warrants.
For the mooted £12m, Jovetic would be a good signing, for us, as he’d automatically get more opportunities at Anfield than he has with the Sky Blues, and he’d be determined to prove his Premier League worth, too.
His best years are still ahead of him as well. The same report links us with Danny Ings, who excites us slightly less.
