For a fair sum, this would be an absolutely brilliant summer transfer…
Italian publication Gazzetta dello sport (reported here in the Mirror) claim that we’re heavily interested in Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, with the Serie A champions happy to sell the Chilean and replace him with AS Roma’s Belgian Raidja Naingollan.
Vidal is a superb box-to-box midfielder. He offers plenty both defensively and offensively, and has the technical attributes to match his endless work-rate. For The Old Lady he’s been a consistent part of a title winning midfield that also includes Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio and Andrea Pirlo, who interestingly, has also been linked with a move to Anfield when the window opens (via the Mirror.)
The fact we’re being linked with two midfielders who will take part in the Champions League final in a few weeks’ time is very exciting, though we’re not sure if our interest in the Juve pair is concrete.
Steven Gerrard played his final match at Anfield on Saturday, and he badly needs to be replaced by a top notch central midfielder this summer.
Vidal would be an unbelievable signing, but despite the report, we can’t see why Juventus would want to part with the South American, who at 27, is about to enter his peak.
