RWB) Rob Jones
Jones’ promising career was unfortunately cut short by injury and he was forced to retire at just 28. Nonetheless, he can look back on more than 200 games for Liverpool, who he joined from Crewe in 1991. A solid choice down the right-hand side.
CM) John Barnes
Fowler would have only been a teenager when Barnes left Liverpool in 1997. The legendary midfielder eventually called it a day three years later but his influence obviously made its impact on Robbie. Barnes played more than 300 league games for us, scoring 84 goals.
CM) Steven Gerrard
The greatest of them all. Gerrard has only this year left Liverpool, joining LA Galaxy. Fowler will have only mostly played with a very young Gerrard, when he was still learning his trade, although his 18 month second spell at Anfield will have given him a great insight into our iconic midfielder at his peak.
LWB) Jason McAteer
The versatile midfielder was always a solid performer for the Reds, having arrived at Anfield off the back of some impressive performances for the Republic of Ireland. He played exactly 100 Premier League games for us, scoring three goals in the process. He joined Blackburn in 1999.
