Sampdoria want to loan Balotelli, but only if we pay his wages!

Serie A club Sampdoria are interested in signing Mario Balotelli on loan, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, but cannot afford to pay him his £110,000-per-week wages.

Therefore, they’ll only be able to sign the 24-year-old on a temporary deal if Liverpool agree to pay a portion of his hefty weekly contract.

For us, this seems crazy. If we’re going to lend the striker to a different club next season, there’s no way we should be paying for the privilege as well.

Ideally, we should try and recoup most of the £16m we shelled out on the controversial forward, who to be fair, has totally flopped since arriving from AC Milan last summer.

Balotelli isn’t Brendan Rodgers’ cup of tea, and the Northern Irishman basically phased the forward out of his first-team plans towards the end of last season. With Rodgers staying as manager, it seems likely that Balotelli will be moved on this summer.

Let’s hope it’s for some proper cash, as loan deals out of the club simply draw out the process of admitting a player is not going to make it at Anfield.
