Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool price tag named – and it’s cheap

Mario Balotelli is hopefully going to be on his way out of the club this summer, with the controversial Italian failing to impress during his time at Anfield. He looks likely to make a move back to Italy, with Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero revealing our alleged price tag, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Ferrero claims we are demanding €10m for the former Manchester City man, around £7m, although bizarrely suggests that there could be a discount.

“They told me that Mario was yesterday in Genoa,” said Ferrero.

“He costs €10m, but with discount you look with open arms.”

We have made a number of attacking signings this summer, with the likes of Christian Benteke, Danny Ings, and even Roberto Firmino capable of starting up top. These additions mean we have a huge number of forward on our books, and desperately need to offload one or more.

Balotelli should be one of the first names on the list, but Fabio Borini could also be heading for the exit. Both men are being linked with a move back to Serie A (via the Liverpool Echo), and should depart before the season begins.

£7m would be a £9m loss on the £16m (via BBC Sport) we paid for Balotelli last summer, but at this point we may just need to accept this was a failed experiment.
