The cameramen were out in force at Melwood this week it seems, with Liverpool’s official website today updating the squad photos for all of the first-team players – from Nathaniel Clyne through to Lazar Markovic.
There’s something strangely satisfying about seeing every player pull on the new shirt and stand in line for his chance to have a photo taken – the new season is well and truly here!
Interestingly – and because we love to read too much into situations such as this – the only players not to be included in the shoot were Daniel Sturridge, Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori.
Sturridge is, of course, still away from the club as he recovers from the hip operation he underwent back in May. He is expected back in the near future (via Daily Mail), but for now it seems we’ve used a photo from the kit unveiling earlier this year.
The fact that both Sakho and Ilori – both pictured in training kit – are missing, is somewhat more puzzling, although the Frenchman’s second child was only born on Tuesday. As for the latter, he once again played no part in pre-season and is perhaps closing in on a loan move.
Fabio Borini, Jose Enrique and Mario Balotelli were all included.
