It’s not often Liverpool fans feel mostly positive after a goalless draw, but the individual and collective performances of the lads away at the Emirates earned the praise they received online.
Defensively we were awesome and looked a totally different side to the leaky one of 2014/15.
In fact, we were very unlucky not to go in at half-time ahead, but we’d have taken a draw beforehand and we can now focus on West Ham at Anfield next weekend.

Here’s a tweet per player that we particularly enjoyed.

DR) Nathaniel Clyne
Going from Glen Johnson to Nathaniel Clyne……..WOW — Matthew Ordish (@AnfieldMatt) August 24, 2015
DL) Joe Gomez
I’m not getting carried away but so far Joe Gomez is the best Left Back in the EPL. And he’s only 18 years old #LFC pic.twitter.com/vqVZCA5xJN

DC) Martin Skrtel
Martin Skrtel was absolutely monumental in that second half. Props to our whole back line, too. — AnfieldKick (@AnfieldKick) August 24, 2015
DC) Dejan Lovren
And kudos to Dejan Lovren. Three games in and he looks like the centre half Rodgers spent £20 million on. Another excellent performance.

DMC) Lucas
Lucas is a model pro, and a man for the crunch matches. If we know how to use him well, like we did today, he’ll shine. Delighted for him. — Liverpool FC 360 (@LFC_360) August 25, 2015
MC) Emre Can
Emre Can was a monster, that’s what happens when you dont restrict him defensively and instead give him a DM behind.

MC) James Milner
Struggle to single anyone out tonight, all brilliant. But I’m going to. What a signing James Milner has been. What. A. Signing. #LFC — Peter McDowall (@Petermcdowall10) August 24, 2015
AMR) Roberto Firmino
Considering Firmino was still clearly lacking fitness he looked fantastic today. Going to be huge for us this year.

AML) Coutinho
People who still don’t rate Coutinho are either blind haters or have the football IQ of a chicken. I can’t think of another explanation.

FC) Christian Benteke
Christian Benteke won 16 headers today. He won 18 in the first two league games all together. Colossal. pic.twitter.com/NTcx4XneQQ
