Liverpool loanee returns to club after serious injury blow

Liverpool youngster Kevin Stewart was set for a spell on loan with Swindon Town this season, but has returned to the club after suffering medial ligament damage, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The report claims 21-year-old has been brought back to Merseyside to undergo medical testing, and is set to miss at least six weeks of action.

Swindon are hopeful that Stewart will be able to return to the club at some point in the season however, and revealed that they have held talks with Brendan Rodgers to discuss how to move forward from here.

“We’ll see. We’ll have a chat with Liverpool and see what they want to do. Brendan was here today so we’ll see what they want to do,” said Swindon boss Mark Cooper.

The midfielder is a promising prospect, so it’s a blow to hear of his injury. Swindon clearly rate him highly, and Cooper lamented the loss of the talented star.

“He’s a good player, Kev. He can play in a lot of positions, so we’ll have to make do,” Cooper continued.

Swindon took three of our players on loan this season, with shot-stopper Lawrence Vigouroux and versatile youngster Jordan Williams joining Stewart at the club.

The Echo’s report reveals that Rodgers was at Swindon’s last match against Crewe, and while Vigouroux featured, Williams was away on international duty with Wales.

Hopefully Stewart recovers quickly, and is able to continue his development – whether it’s at Swindon or any other club.
