Jurgen Klopp has given an exclusive interview to German publication Bild, in which his most interesting answers were regarding potential Liverpool transfer targets.
Klopp arrived at Liverpool in October, outside the summer transfer window, meaning he’s so far only been able to use the squad assembled by his predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
As a result, there’s been countless links to new players, especially those from the Bundesliga – but Klopp claimed that the vast majority of the players linked are made up entirely.

His answer to the direct question regarding our interest in Joel Matip and Leroy Sane though suggests there’s definitely something in the rumours.
“Those are from Schalke, right?,” Klopp joked, before bursting into his famous laugh.
“It is true that we are under scrutiny everywhere. I am far from having to look for players from the Bundesliga next year. Believe me: There is nothing wilder than transfer rumors, especially here in England. You can emphatically say ten times we aren’t getting a new keeper, the next day still it’s in the newspaper or somewhere else.”
Matip, the Cameroonian centre-back, is available for us to freely approach in two days’ time due to the Bosman ruling, meaning if a contract was agreed, he’d sign for free in the summer.
Prodigal winger Sane will be far harder to buy though. The starlet, whose form has earned him caps for Germany since the start of the season, will cost big money – but his agent has already confirmed that he won’t be moving anywhere until the summer at the earliest, via the Express.
Klopp’s right of course in declaring the insanity the press breeds regarding transfer rumours, but it’s only going to get worse come January, when the window reopens.
