Alex Teixeira very much wants to sign for Liverpool this January, and doesn’t know why his club Shakhtar have so far rejected our advances.
The Brazilian was speaking exclusively to Anfield HQ out in Florida, where he’s currently at a training camp with the Ukrainians.
“It was a great offer. It is frustrating. But the manager and club president decided against it. So now I’m just waiting. Trying to be patient,” he began.
The 26-year-old went on to say: “It would be an honour to defend the Liverpool shirt,” before importantly claiming, “I know my agent is still attempting everything possible to help me get to Liverpool.”
Unfortunately, Sky Sports reckons that our chances of finalising a deal are very small, with the clubs still far apart in our valuations for the attacking midfielder.
We’d be mad to miss out on such an exciting potential signing who’s so keen to switch. We’ve squandered millions of pounds on completely average players in recent years, but when an attacker of genuine top-level ability is presented to us – we need to take the gamble.
Sadly, it’s looking like Teixeira’s dream might have to wait until the summer, when we’ll likely face intense competition for his services – unless the club stump up the €50m asking price.
