Liverpool have been scouting Malaga central midfielder Ignacio Camacho, and recently watched the Spaniard against Real Madrid with a view to a potential summer deal, claims Bleacher Report.
You can watch Dean Jones claim as much during this video:
The report suggests Liverpool could enter talks with Malaga in the summer regarding a deal – first between Camacho and his current club – second between Liverpool and the Spanish parties.
Bleacher reckon Malaga would ask for only £7m, a bargain sum in this day and age.
The 25-year-old is a traditional defensive midfielder, providing an awesome central platform for the rest of the team to perform. He prides himself on tackles, interceptions and protecting his defence, helping Malaga to an excellent clean-sheet record in La Liga this season.
A separate report in Read Liverpool suggests Camacho actually has already visited the Melwood training facility, at the beginning of February – although we cannot confirm this via any other sources.
Camacho has one cap for Spain, but his enjoying one of his best seasons in a Malaga shirt since moving there from Atletico Madrid back in 2010.
He could provide the necessary competition to Lucas and Emre Can for the anchorman position, although many fans would hope Jurgen Klopp would target bigger, more established names.
For us, at £7m, the deal barely represents a risk.
