Philippe Coutinho has insisted that our players will not be distracted by Sunday’s League Cup final against Manchester City when German minnows Augsburg visit Anfield on Thursday.
“Winning a trophy with Liverpool would mean a lot to me,” Coutinho said (via Echo).
“It is a very important game but we have to think about Augsburg first and then the final.
“We have a good chance to win the trophy and we have to give everything to take this opportunity. Everyone knows it is very important.”

The game against Augsburg marks the start of a massive week for the club. We are sitting nine points behind City in the race for the top four, and it is increasingly looking like an (albeit unlikely) Europa League trophy is our most likely route back into the Champions League next season.
On Sunday, we have the chance to win our first silverware since the 2012 League Cup, then next Wednesday we welcome Man City to Anfield for a tie that could see us reduce the deficit between us and the top four to six points.
On paper, all three are “must wins”.
Who knows what team Klopp will pick for each of them – we wouldn’t want to be in his shoes!
