Frenchman Mamadou Sakho is undoubtedly a character. While he’s not yet hit the Kolo Toure level of cult status, he is well on his way – whether it’s bizarre SnapChat posts or his daughter invading on-pitch interviews, he is always good for a laugh.
The aura around his personality is somewhat helped by his “unorthodox” playing style. He always looks like he is one second away from a horrendous error, but he always pulls through and nine times out of ten turns in a good performance.
The latest to weigh in on our big centre back is wannabe bad-boy Joey Barton.
Barton has got a lot of things wrong in his career – stubbing a cigar in a City trainee’s face and putting on a ludicrous French accent when arriving in Ligue Un to name two. But in this case, he is definitely on-point.
