Will Ian Ayre be appreciated at any point by Liverpool fans before he leaves in 2017?
Ayre played a big part in removing Hicks and Gillett, while also securing Jurgen Klopp as manager – but fans instead only choose to remember some of his botched transfer deals, his role in the infamous transfer committee and his appearance in the Being Liverpool documentary.
The truth is that Ayre did great things commercially for Liverpool, but also made mistakes that will cement his legacy.
This Twitter reaction provides a mixed view:
I personally feel the criticism Ian Ayre has received is beyond a joke, You can only negotiate for a player with what’s in your wallet!

Ian Ayre gets stick but he managed the club during it’s “darkest” days & will leave it in a much healthier position. Grateful for that #LFC

I don’t dislike Ian Ayre but he clearly wasn’t the right person to be running Liverpool Football Club. Thanks but it’s upwards from here.

“Ian Ayre to step down as CEO in May 2017.”
I bet the deal will fall through at the last minute.
