Liverpool fans have ravaged Christian Benteke for his unsanctioned interview while on international duty with Belgium.
The £32.5m striker has complained about being left in the cold under Jurgen Klopp, and has said there’s nothing he can if the German doesn’t trust him.
“I spoke with Eden (Hazard) and with Marouane (Fellaini), they all gave me the same answer: when a coach does not count on you, you cannot change anything,” the forward told a Belgian newspaper.
“The thing that is annoying is that I had prepared to transfer to Liverpool. I never would have signed if I had not been the priority of the coach.”
As many Reds supporters have recognised, this seems like the confirmation we needed that Benteke would leave us this summer.
The online response is pretty unanimous…
Benteke should be grateful he still somehow makes it to the bench & not being discarded to reserves like Jose Enrique. #lfc

Yeh that’s the way to get back in the team Benteke, slag the manager off in the paper. Forget getting your head down and grafting. In a bit.

Benteke putting the final nail in his own coffin there.

Benteke has the cheek to claim he hasn’t been given a chance by Klopp. The guy can’t finish simple one-on-ones. Nail in the coffin there.

It’s looking more and more like Benteke will be on the transfer list this summer. An attacking mid to come in? Firmino can play ST of course

Benteke will be gone. Nail in his own coffin there.

Call me crazy, but I can’t see Klopp being very happy with Benteke after all this. Shame really, not his fault we spent £32m on him.

Really don’t know who’d win in a fight between Klopp and Benteke. Reckon we’ll find out soon enough.
