Liverpool have confirmed via the official website that midfielder Emre Can will be out for four to six weeks because of ruptured ankle ligaments.
The Germany international was a late casualty of Thursday’s unbelievable Europa League quarter-final comeback over Borussia Dortmund at Anfield.

The Liverpool website adds that Can could feature again before the end of the season, but he will certainly miss our last-four meeting with Villarreal.
Can has made 46 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this campaign – the joint most of any outfield player this term alongside Nathaniel Clyne.
This news will come as a huge blow to Jurgen Klopp, who was already without another third of his first-choice midfield with Jordan Henderson sidelined.
Our captain is facing a six-week layoff of his own after sustaining lateral collateral ligament damage in his knee in the first leg with Dortmund in Germany.
Those two legs with the Bundesliga giants have proven to be costly on the injury front, but my word was it worth it when Dejan Lovren popped in the winner.
Can’s injury is likely to mean more prominent roles for Lucas Leiva and Joe Allen during the remainder of the season, and more opportunities for Kevin Stewart.
Unfortunately Stewart, who impressed as an anchorman in our 4-1 win over Stoke City, is not in the Europa League squad, so will be limited to Premier League action.
