Liverpool are now considering a move for Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule, while simultaneously pursuing deals for Bundesliga duo Loris Karius and Mario Gotze, writes Joe Bernstein in the Daily Mail.
The Reds expect to formalise a £4.7m transfer for Mainz keeper Karius next week, while acquiring Gotze from Bayern Munich will be a more high profile, complicated but exciting deal.
As well as the German pair, Jurgen Klopp wants towering centre-back Sule, claims the report.
He’s a monster of a man, standing at 6 ft. 5″ aged just 20. Sule has ten caps for Germany Under-21 and is regarded as one of the most talented central defenders in Europe.
Liverpool are set to release Kolo Toure, while Martin Skrtel should leave to Besiktas (via Express). With Mamadou Sakho’s impending ban, we perhaps need another centre-back despite Joel Matip’s imminent arrival.
Sule would represent a real coup, and inject height and athleticism into a shaky back-four. With a new keeper, new centre-backs and Alberto Moreno maybe being replaced too – Liverpool’s defensive lineup could look completely different bar Nathaniel Clyne in 2016/17.
