Liverpool are looking to get over the fact Mario Gotze wants to stay at Bayern Munich by acquiring a younger version of Bayern’s pint-sized genius playmaker.
According to reliable Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, Jurgen Klopp and his team have singled out Dinamo Zagreb prospect Ante Caric as a potential summer transfer target.
The 19-year-old has been invited by Liverpool to Melwood to look around while Klopp makes a plan of action for the 2016/17 campaign.
The report suggests Manchester City and Tottenham are also interested, but that we’re lining up an early €15m bid.
Gotze has committed his future to Bayern, and with the German being Klopp’s top summer target, he’ll now have to look elsewhere.
Coric is 5 ft. 7′, extraordinarily talented and technically astute. Whether he’ll be able to get in our first-team yet is another matter, with Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana currently more experienced and physically capable.
But the youngster has plenty of room to grow, and would be an exciting signing for the future, if not quite as ‘marquee’ a deal as the mooted Gotze one.
