The Premier League has today released the Premier League fixtures for the new season.
We start with Arsenal, have some respite at home to Burnley – then play Spurs, champions Leicester and Chelsea in the first weeks. Hull and Swansea follow before we host Manchester United. That’s an incredibly hard start.
The Merseyside Derby isn’t until mid-December, while our first trip to West Ham’s Olympic Stadium is on the penultimate day of the season – while we host newly promoted ‘Boro on the last.
Liverpool traditionally have experienced tricky starts in recent campaigns, facing the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in opening weeks – and it was our start to 2015/16 which effectively cost Brendan Rodgers his job.
This list is no exception, although it’ll draw no complaints from the manager.
Now, Klopp can begin properly planning for his first full term in charge, although when he gets back from holiday – shaping his squad in the transfer market will be a priority before a makeshift squad flies out to America for pre-season.
