Piotr Zielinski to Liverpool has seemed certain to happen for a while now, with reports suggesting he will have his medical following the conclusion of Poland’s involvement in the Euro 2016 Championships (via the Daily Star). Reports from Italy (via Gianluca Di Marzio) suggest the move could now be at risk though, with Napoli set to redouble their efforts in an attempt to sign the 22-year-old.
The Udinese star spent the last two seasons on loan at Empoli, catching the eye of several big clubs. We looked to be very clearly leading the race for his signature, but these reports from Italy suggest otherwise.
As the report suggests, we looked set to get a £9.5m deal done for the player as soon as the Euros were over. Gianluca Di Marzio however, claim that not only are Napoli willing to up their offer to £10.8m, but they’re also willing to offer Juan Zuniga in exchange as well as further add-ons.
We’re somewhat sceptical of these reports, as Zielinski’s agent has previously stated that there’s no chance whatsoever of his client joining Napoli.
“To be honest, there is no chance that the player can go to Napoli,” he said (via the Daily Star).

While Zielinski looks like an incredibly promising young midfielder, reports of his imminent arrival have been met with mixed responses from Liverpool fans. There probably wouldn’t be too much disappointment if the deal were to fall through, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
