Former goalkeeper Brad Jones is training with Liverpool again.
The Reds offered the 34-year-old Australian the chance to join in our pre-season preparations in a bid to gain fitness in the coming weeks as he seeks to find a new club.
Jones is currently unattached after leaving Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen last month. He also had a short stint at Bradford City last term after leaving Anfield in 2015.
The former Middlesbrough stopper made 27 appearances in all competitions for us between 2010 and 2015 as he largely played deputy to firstly Pepe Reina, and then Simon Mignolet.
He did not always fill us with confidence as a goalkeeper, but remained popular with supporters and had his memorable Liverpool moment when he saved a penalty in a Premier League win over Blackburn Rovers, in his comeback appearance after the death of his five-year-old son.
Reds fans reminisced about that night at Ewood Park as they welcomed Jones back with open arms…
Currently free agent, but came back to train with the squad. What an exemplary player Brad Jones is.
