Liverpool’s out of favour French defender Mamadou Sakho will leave to join Sunderland on loan tomorrow, a source close to Empire of the Kop has explained.

The same source has correctly provided us starting XIs this season (although we haven’t published them due to fans not appreciating leaks) and was spot on about Jon Flanagan moving to Burnley before it reached the newspapers…

For this reason, we’re pretty confident he’s right this time, too.

Sakho has been told by the club that he must depart the club on loan and that he won’t play for Liverpool this season – even if he digs his heels in and stays at Anfield.

Furious, confused LFC fans bombard Twitter over Klopp’s ‘ridiculous’ latest Sakho decision

Jurgen Klopp thinks the centre-back has a future with us, but only after proving his fitness and professional attitude away from the club temporarily.

Fans are confused why we’re loaning out our potentially best defender, leaving only Ragnar Klavan as experienced backup to Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren – but it’s happening and we ought to get used to it…

Interestingly, reports in the Daily Mail last week claimed Sunderland had already rejected the chance to take Sakho on loan, so we can only assume David Moyes has had a change of heart – or that Lamine Kone is heading for the exit doors – freeing up space in central defence.

The Black Cats are relegation candidates this term and Sakho would undeniably improve their side. If this potential switch does come into fruition, one thing’s for certain… he’ll get plenty of practice!
