Thankfully though, Can should be back for Liverpool’s next fixture, at home to Leicester on September 10, our first game at the newly expanded Anfield.
Can walks into our side as the starting holding midfielder, but has not been able to get a run of games in the team this season due to fitness concerns.
He now has a little under two weeks at Melwood to get himself prepared for the visit of the Premier League champions. In Jurgen Klopp’s newly favoured 4-3-3, Can is all the more pivotal, providing stability and a base for the likes of Gini Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana or Jordan Henderson either side of him.
