Remember when Liverpool strikers, out of the starting XI, would run their mouth to the press while on international duty?
We can remember Christian Benteke doing it a few times last season, actually, but his younger compatriot Divock Origi has refused to be drawn into such conversation with Belgium this time around.
The 21-year-old emerged as a starting option last season, playing ahead of Daniel Sturridge in some crunch fixtures, but this term, he’s been restricted to EFL Cup appearances.

This has been due to Roberto Firmino’s quality centrally, with Coutinho and Sadio Mane undroppable either side… In fact, even Sturridge has struggled for Premier League minutes and both he and Origi were linked with January moves to Juventus yesterday, via Mirror, as a result.
Here’s what Origi had to say, reported by Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur:
Origi: “Of course I would like to play more, but never change a winning team. I’m still convinced that I will make it at Liverpool.” #lfc

Origi: “Klopp believes in me. He asked me to be patient & to stay calm – not easy. I want to be the decisive player I was last season.” #LFC

Origi: “Have I been linked to Juventus? Never heard that one. It’s just a rumour. I’m fully focused on Liverpool.” #LFC pic.twitter.com/2zKSpbrSeq

Top stuff from the youngster. His quality and potential is enormous, but like he says, Jurgen Klopp can’t change a team which is racking up consistent wins, five on the bounce in all competitions.
