Brendan Rodgers was often criticised for his transfer dealings during his time as Liverpool manager but the signing of Divock Origi certainly represents great business.
The Belgian striker has thrived under the management of Jurgen Klopp over the past year having endured a relatively quiet start to life on Merseyside following his eventual arrival in 2015 after an initial loan spell at Lille.
In an interview with the Mirror, he has explained the reason as to why he chose Liverpool over several other teams that were fighting for his signature.
He said: “There were offers from everywhere. Bayern were interested, all these clubs. But I came to Liverpool, I saw the facilities, I took some time out of my vacation to visit Melwood and speak with Brendan Rodgers.”
“When I came in, everyone knew my name, they knew who I was and they were looking at a video of me even from the under-15s. They knew about my qualities and when I saw the values of the club – passing, pressing, fast players – I was like: ‘this is the place I want to go’.”
“When I first came in to Liverpool, I realised quickly what an immense club this is.”

Thanks again for that one, Brendan.
We count ourselves lucky that Origi deemed Liverpool the best place for him to move to. He is on his way to developing into an extremely accomplished Premier League striker and an important part of this team’s future.
Recent injuries to key players means the time is now for him to step up his game and make the most of the quality he possesses. His record of a goal in each of his last three games recognises him doing just that.
He is on his way to earning the right to be labelled one of the club’s best signings in recent years.
