Klopp reflects on ‘nearly perfect’ Liverpool performance earlier in the season

It is very rare for Jurgen Klopp to use the ‘p’ word to describe a performance from his team.

His desire to see his players continue to improve by the week recognises the high expectations that he works with and also how much he wants to bring success to the club.

Though the German’s tactics are no secret to the rest of the Premier League, very few teams have been able to combat them so far this season.

Klopp has reflected on one team display he was delighted with.

He told Goal.com: “Let’s say Hull, was in counter-pressing, the best I’ve seen for a long, long time, unbelievably strong.”

“We felt so good in this game, everything worked out, we scored the goals in the right moment, and when they got the ball it was like everyone was waiting to lose the ball so we could win it back and the whole stadium enjoyed it.”

“In this game we were nearly perfect, next game was Swansea I think, I saw nothing of our counter-pressing, it’s not like cycling, you learn it and will never forget unfortunately.”

“It’s quite difficult to always be in this mood and to always have this feeling for the right timing, but this is quite a young squad and we are in a good place, but we have a lot of things to do, but on the way we want to have results.”

Hull were one of a handful of sides that just couldn’t deal with the energy and the intensity of our players. For those that don’t remember, the game ended 5-1 to Liverpool.

The aggression in the way the players pressurise their opponents makes it just a matter of time before we win the ball back having lost it.

Consistently producing a performance like that is sure to bring this team success. The exciting thing is that Klopp will want this team to improve even more.
