Playing under Jurgen Klopp and for Liverpool is a privilege and requires a simple but crucial trait to earn the right to do so.

The Liverpool boss has made his demand for hard work, energy and professionalism no secret since arriving in the Premier League and has outlined what he looks for in young and upcoming stars. He has also discussed first-team development coach Pepijn Lijnders’ group of youth players in the process.

Speaking about what he looks for in a player in an excellent interview with Jonathan Northcroft in the Sunday Times, he said: “Of course, skills set. Sometimes I look in Pep’s Talent Group and say ‘My God. He’s 15… you can’t believe it.’ But skills are only one thing. Attitude is what they should bring.”

“If you have to force somebody to work… it’s no problem, once, on a bad weather day. But if you have to do it every day the boy has no chance. Being too cool, too early, is always a ¬mistake.”

This very attitude has shone through every time we have heard from a Liverpool player this season, whether they are a first team regular or a youth prospect.

Not only does the level of talent on show make this club’s group of youngsters so exciting, but their approach to their development and growth as players has given everyone good reason to believe they have what it takes to succeed.

The same attitude and mentality runs throughout the entire squad which is why there is so much promise about the future of this club.
