Let’s get one thing straight: I’m not suggesting Jurgen Klopp should have kept Lazar Markovic.
It’s clear he doesn’t rate the Serbian, who had his loan cancelled by Sporting Lisbon following a miserable start to the campaign.
But it’s still good to see the 22-year-old starting well against Manchester United last night for his new loan club Hull.
Markovic came on from the bench with half an hour to play and played a big role in the Tigers’ second goal, pinging a ball to the right-back, who crossed first time for Niasse to bag.
Markovic is known as a ‘winger’, but his crossing is poor and he’s actually been much better throughout his career as an onrushing no.10, in the kind of role Raheem Sterling used to play for us.
We really hope he does well this next six months. Who knows what the future holds…
