Unless we’ve got a monumental fixture to play like at home to Borussia Dortmund last season, Anfield is more than often underwhelming.
Jurgen Klopp knows it and so do the diehards. But it’s not a Liverpool problem. It’s a football problem, because the game has been commercialised to such an extent that matches are tourist spectacles. People travel to Anfield and pump money into the club they love, so in many ways there’s nothing to complain about – but the death of Anfield’s booming atmosphere is very sad.

And it’s not like there’s a quick fix, either.
This fan on Redmen TV has passionately hit the nail on the head, and his interview from the other night has gone viral.
‘Liverpool is like a tourist club now, but most of the top six are tourist clubs,’ he began. ‘And it gets to Klopp. You can tell it gets to him. He’s sick of people showing up to Liverpool, making a song and dance of it, taking a few photos, taking a selfie-stick to the game…
‘Even ten years ago, the atmosphere was booming. Everyone in every stand was standing, singing… There was gaps in the Main Stand. It’s a semi-final!’
