Imagine Steven Gerrard playing through-balls to the likes of Luis Suarez and Roberto Firmino, with Coutinho cutting in and joining in the fun!
Sadly, they were never all at the club at the same time, as it could have been quite something.
Our former captain Gerrard did get to play with Firmino for the first time on Wednesday though, joining in with Jurgen Klopp’s side Down Under for the friendly against Sydney FC.
He watched the Brazilian conjure a beautiful assist for Alberto Moreno, before adding the third himself in a resounding 3-0 win.

“To play with Firmino, especially, was an absolute pleasure,” Gerrard told the ECHO.
“I would have loved to have played with him for a couple of years.
“He’s a very intelligent footballer. He’s on that same wavelength – he sees things.
“There are players and there are levels and he’s absolutely top level.”
Gerrard usually reserves this kind of praise for strikers he played with like Fernando Torres or Suarez, and it’s pretty clear he knows an elite footballer when he sees ones.
So the fact he’s analysing Firmino in such a telling manner perhaps explains why he’s one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp’s team-sheet – even when Daniel Sturridge is fit.
We’d love Firmino to score more goals next year. He notched 12 this campaign, but has the talent to get closer to 20. Once he starts registering those numbers, we’ll be looking at one of the best players in the country.
