Chelsea, angry at losing one of their prized youth assets to Liverpool, are trying to squeeze every penny they can from the Dominic Solanke ‘sale’.
The Standard report that following our new signing’s brilliant performances at the Under-20 World Cup, which England won at the weekend, Chelsea will demand a £10m compensatory fee for his services.
Solanke’s contract expires this summer, but rules state that compensation packages must be paid to former clubs when a player is under 24. 19-year-old Solanke scored four goals at the World Cup and was voted Player of the Tournament – so the Blues want to take advantage of this despite his move to Anfield already being finalised.

It’s looking like Liverpool’s Brazilian could make shock Premier League switch…
Liverpool expected to pay around £3m for Solanke and will surely refuse to meet this £7m increase, so the final fee will likely be decided by a tribunal.
Either way, it’s a sign that Liverpool acquired a serious talent in Solanke. Under Jurgen Klopp, he’s far more likely to get first-team chances than he was at Chelsea, who hoard rather than develop youngsters.
We can’t wait to see him in pre-season.
