This makes absolutely no sense, to us!
But Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol is claiming the reason we signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is because Jurgen Klopp sees him as the long-term replacement for… James Milner.
Last term, Milner played the entirety of the campaign at left-back, and was previously used on the right wing by our German boss.
He’s also probably the fittest member of our squad and 31, easily has three more seasons left as a key member of it.
Oxlade-Chamberlain shares very few of Milner’s traits. While the older man has good delivery, leadership and feistiness, the new signing is quick, technical and skilful – and enjoys running with the ball.
In terms of attributes, they share very, very few!
And we can almost guarantee that Klopp has no plans to use Oxlade-Chamberlain as a utility left-back – especially now we’ve got an improved Alberto Moreno and the promising Andrew Robertson fighting for the position.
What you on about, Kaveh?
