Liverpool have decided to appeal Sadio Mane’s red-card from Saturday lunchtime.
The Senegalese was sent off in the first-half for a high-foot on Manchester City keeper Ederson.
It undeniably changed the game, with Liverpool utterly hopeless and bereft of belief after our best player left the field.
It was a moment of enormous controversy, which pretty much split the footballing public entirely.
As a result, Liverpool are gambling by submitting an appeal to the Premier League in regards to the length of the ban.
At the moment, Mane is banned for three matches (against Burnley and Leicester in the PL and Leicester again the League Cup), but we’re hoping the ban will be reduced, according to Paul Joyce in the Times.
Even if the ban is reduced by just one match, we’ll be happy, as Mane wouldn’t play in the midweek cup fixture against Leicester that takes place before the league game at the same stadium.
We should be able to beat Burnley at home next weekend without him.
