Last night, Steven Gerrard was inducted into the National Football Hall of Fame.
It’s the very least our legendary former captain deserves after an iconic career which included Man of the Match performances in the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup Finals.
He also won over 100 caps and is widely regarded as the best player in English football history to never win a domestic league title.

Gerrard came closest in 2013/14, but despite playing an individually brilliant season, fans of opposition clubs remember his telling contribution being the slip that led to Demb Ba’s goal against Chelsea during our run-in.
It’s a moment that has eaten Gerrard up and one he’s cruelly reminded of by a chant at most away grounds.
Still, the man showed he’s above the jibes last night, by joking about the incident.
“I’ve tried to blame it on Mamadou Sakho’s pass many times… But nobody’s having any of it!” he said!

Good for you, Stevie.
You’ll just have to come back and win it as our manager one day instead.
