Liverpool could sell Daniel Sturridge to Sevilla in a swap-deal that would allow Steven N’Zonzi to head to Anfield in the other direction.
This is a claim from Spanish outlet El Gol, translated by the Star, who claim that Sevilla are keen on our sub forward who wants to leave Liverpool in search of the first-team football his talent undeniably deserves.
Football London though claimed the Frenchman flew to London last night to discuss a deal with interested Arsenal, with Sevilla more than happy to sell providing his £35m release-clause is met.
However, Liverpool also have an office in the English capital where transfer discussions have taken place in the past (like with Mo Salah this summer), so there’s an outside chance he spoke with our representatives as well.
N’Zonzi is a very good player. We saw that this season at Anfield in the Champions League. He’s a much better midfielder than the one who represented Blackburn and Stoke previously and would add steel and composure to our midfield.
With Emre Can not signing a new contract, we need midfielders like N’Zonzi signed in the coming windows.
However, we’re unsure if Liverpool will sanction spending big money on someone his age, and think the possibility of a swap-deal is virtually zero – as there’s just too much to go wrong in such propositions for them to actually get done.
