Liverpool face Spartak Moscow at Anfield tonight in what’s perhaps the most important game of the season so far, even though everybody is expecting us to go through automatically.
Realistically, we need a win to progress as Group Winners and draw a second-placed team in the Last 16. We’ll still top the group with a draw, providing Sevilla fail to beat Maribor – but this is highly unlikely so it’s safer to assume they’ll emerge victorious.

Here’s what our fate in Europe will be for each outcome:
Win & Top the Group:
We’ll face one of FC Basel, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Shakhtar/Napoli, Porto/Leipzig, Real Madrid.
Draw & Finish second:
We’ll face one of PSG, Barcelona, Besiktas or Roma.
Lose & Finish Third:
Because head-to-head overrides goal difference in the Group Stages, Spartak will demote us into the Europa League.
All to play for!
