So far, the players Liverpool have been linked to as potential Coutinho replacements are Thomas Lemar of Monaco, Riyad Mahrez of Leicester and Christian Pulisic of Borussia Dortmund.

However, the first name will cost way, way above market value, the links to the second have been denied by the club and and the latter is simply unavailable.

According to the Telegraph’s Jason Burt, who was speaking to our friends on Anfield Index, Jurgen Klopp is in fact lining up ‘an interesting’ option to replace Phil as Liverpool’s no.10 – not somebody currently discussed in the media.

Danny Murphy’s opinion on Keita & Firmino is Complete Garbage

He says that he’s been asked specifically not to write who the player is, adding that he doesn’t think it’s achievable either!

We have no idea who this player is, so we’re not going to wildly speculate, but it’s good to know the club ARE actively looking at bringing somebody in.

In fairness, of course they are – we’re armed with £142m but now have no creative central midfielder…

We reckon the reason the club are not leaking any information is because of what happened in the summer with Virgil van Dijk and the constant reporting on his ‘signing’ delaying a deal from August to January for well known reasons.

If Liverpool do buy somebody this month, it’ll be quick and exciting – not a prolonged saga – we imagine.
