Echo releases disappointing LFC transfer news…

Butland, Allison, Oblak

Liverpool will not buy a goalkeeper this January, the Echo claim.

There have been reports that we’re considering Roma’s Alisson, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak or Stoke’s Jack Butland, but James Pearce doesn’t think Jurgen Klopp will analyse his goalkeeping options before the summer.

The boss decided he needed three stoppers for the campaign in Simon Mignolet, Loris Karius and Danny Ward, therefore denying the latter a loan move to Huddersfield, for whom he shone last term.

But it’s not exactly gone to plan. Ward has played just once: our League Cup defeat to Leicester; while Mignolet and Karius have stumbled along in the Premier League and Champions League respectively.

Both are capable of good performances, but neither instil genuine confidence in supporters or the backline, especially the German – who we sadly regard as not up to scratch.

Hopefully, Klopp will see sense and recruit an elite no.1 in the summer. Alisson would be our favourite, and it would be good to get him before the World Cup starts, as his value may skyrocket in Russia.
