Sadio Mane has shifted the focus towards the contributions of the entire Liverpool team rather than that of the notorious front three alone.
The forward bagged a hat-trick in Wednesday’s 5-0 Champions League rout over Porto, with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah also playing leading roles in another ruthless attacking display.
Whilst the three will inevitably draw the plaudits, Mane insists their teammates are a driving force behind their success in front of goal.
“I think it’s all the team, they play a great game and make it easy for us,” Mane told Viasport Fotball.
Jamie Carragher also labelled Mane a ‘revelation’ after the game, drawing on his stunning impact since arriving from Southampton in summer 2016.
It marked a welcomed turn in fortune for Mane, who had struggled in previous weeks for the Reds with a string of frustrating performances.
He returned in full motion on Wednesday, however, to help Liverpool become the leading scorers in European football’s most prestigious tournament this season.
Mane also admitted during his post-match interview that Carragher had urged him to add to his goal tally in the second-half – message well and truly received.
If the 25-year-old can restore his scoring touch alongside the prolific form of Salah and Mane, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be in great shape secure another top-four finish in the Premier League.
Mane’s treble could prove vital in allowing the Reds to consider team changes in the return leg at Anfield, with a trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford scheduled to follow that weekend.
