Journalist on Spanish TV claims it’s midfielder’s ‘Will’ to join Liverpool

Klopp, Ceballos

Last night on the Chringuito show on Spanish television (via El Bernabeu), journalist Cristobal Soria claimed that Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos wants to join Liverpool.

He suggested we were keen on the Spaniard in January, but Real blocked a move.

In 2015, we went after Ceballos when he was at Real Betis, but nothing materialised, despite, as Sport Witness suggest, offering him a car, house and massive wage.

Under Zinedine Zidane this term, Ceballos has been tragically underused. The 21-year-old, who hoped he’d be able to force himself into the World Cup squad at the beginning of the campaign, has made just two La Liga starts and none in the Champions League.

This is not befitting a player of his undeniable quality and potential, but it’s perhaps not surprising when you consider the phenomenal Marco Asensio has also found himself sidelined.

Liverpool would benefit from a midfielder with Ceballos’s vision and technique. He can dribble, but also pass through the lines – something the current batch lack.

With Emre Can leaving, it’s essential we sign another top midfielder in the summer, even with Naby Keita arriving.

Ceballos probably fits the bill, especially if he wants the transfer.
