Abdoulaye Doucoure admits he will consider his future nearer to the summer as a number of big clubs line up to pursue his services.

The Watford man has been a star figure in an otherwise mixed season for the club, impressing at the heart of midfield and catching the eye of both Liverpool and Arsenal.

Doucoure has served as a powerhouse for the Hornets to showcase his talent not only as a formidable defensive asset but also a useful attacking option.

Commenting on rumours linking him to a move, he told French outlet L’Equipe: “I’m coming to an important step, we’ll see what the state of play is in the summer and then we can ask questions,” as reported by the Metro.

Liverpool’s search for a new no.6 threatens to relate to uncertainty over Emre Can’s future, with the German have been tipped to join Juventus on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Doucoure possesses the energy and athleticism to thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s system, with the added bonus of experience in England’s top flight.

His all-action approach also teases the prospect of a bullish partnership with Anfield-bound Naby Keita, who is set to strengthen the Reds at both ends of the pitch upon his July arrival.

Despite speculation linking the club to Doucoure, Napoli’s Jorginho represents Klopp’s priority defensive midfield target according to the Times’ Paul Joyce.

It promises to be a busy summer as Liverpool strive to edge even closer towards Premier League title contention.
