Chelsea are eyeing Rb Leipzig’s Peter Gulacsi as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois, ESPN reckon.

The Hungarian is now 27-years-old, having spent a five year stint at Liverpool as a junior which makes him a qualified ‘homegrown’ player for any Premier League club looking to buy him.

Courtois isn’t extending his Chelsea terms and fancies a switch to either Real Madrid or PSG.

Atletico Madrid are also considering Gulacsi, should Jan Oblak end up departing Spain for a whopping fee.

Gulacsi would likely get in Liverpool’s team as well, but there’s been no suggestion the club is keen on bringing him back to Anfield, despite his monumental improvement.

While on our books, he spent time on loan at Hereford, Tranmere and Hull, but well and truly found his feet at Red Bull Salzburg and then Rb Leipzig.

It’d be interesting to see him back in the Premier League, and in truth, we wouldn’t begrudge him a move to Stamford Bridge as he’s not a better keeper than Courtois and was never given a chance by various Liverpool managers anyway.
