There was a point when the ‘Liverpool need a new goalkeeper’ rhetoric has legs.
Simon Mignolet had proven himself to be not good enough over a number of years, and Loris Karius had failed his various auditions.

However, since the German won his place in the side in January, he’s been pretty much faultless.

But in the media, ex-players are still judging Karius as a poor keeper based on 2017 and beforehand rather than his recent form.
Since Virgil van Dijk joined, Karius has been a different keeper and as a result, Liverpool have dropped interest in an big-name no.1s for the summer.
Still, Ian Wright thinks Jan Oblak would be the idea addition.
“I think if Liverpool are definitely going to challenge City, that’s the position [they need to strengthen]” Wright told Sky Sports show The Debate, cited in the Star.
“I would get that keeper, Oblak-kind of like stature.
“That top keeper that can win you games with saves.”
Oblak’s incredible, but we’re not sure it’s a realistic potential deal.
Atletico Madrid won’t want to sell and it would require nearer £100m to tempt them.
If Karius continues impressing until the end of this season, we’re backing him to be our long-term option between the sticks.
